 Why Scotland for Arbitrations?

Why should parties to a dispute select to come to Scotland to have their Arbitration heard? There are many reasons and the ones we shall not mention are the usual tourist ones of whisky, hills, heather, kilts and haggis - although they are available if you wish to partake of them!

Scotland is a signatory to the UNCITRAL rules. This means that international arbitrations can be undertaken in Scotland and the decree arbiteral enforced in over 125 co-signatory countries.

When contracts have been formed under the substantive laws of other jurisdictions, the Arbitration can be carried out in that law. Because the Arbitration is taking place in Scotland it does not mean that Scots Law needs to be applied.

They have all the facilities one expects of great European cities, and these are provided within attractive and compact surroundings, and without the stress usually associated with urban environments. As well as the cities, there are numerous locations in the outstanding scenery within easy reach of the main centres.
